White Frost Beanie (Gray) [Part 00] – New Project!

Now that I’m done with the Aran Sweater that I’d been procrastinating for so long, it’s time for a new project!

White Frost Beanie (Gray)

My next project is the White Frost Beanie!

I was looking for a beanie with some cabling, and this one really has a nice look!

I’m planning on making two of them in different colors, but first is gray.

Example Project

The plan was to make on in a nice gray color, so that the cables would be more visible. Initially, I was going to get the same yarn brand as mentioned in the pattern, but turns out they are in Europe and don’t ship to the US.

However I found a user project on Ravelry that had the color I wanted. Also it had the same yarn material composition as the pattern, which is something I wanted.

Here’s the project: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/susansknitworld/white-frost

Materials

Here’s the yarn I decided to go with.

I’m also adding a faux fur pompom, which I’m getting from Michael’s.

The combination of gray with the lighter brown fur pompom should look good (I think!)

Also, the pattern says to use double-point needles, but I’m going with circular 🤷‍♂️

Current Status

I’ve just received the yarn, so I’m now checking my gauge to make sure the size is right.

I don’t usually prefer to check the gauge, but in this case it’s a gift 💁‍♂️ so I will.

Will report back soon on progress!
